Number of the day, later expanded to infographic of the day. Was an effort in data science to bring some student presentations into the classroom.
The assignment was to find some datum on the web and bring it in for discussion. If it was a number, we would have the student say the number and answer yes/no questions until we honed in on the fact. If it was an infographic, we would discuss how well it represented the data (the world is not great on this metric).
It worked as a quick way to share among students and reinforce the idea that people should be looking at the data that shows up in their lives and critiquing it.
